Julia Basile is an attorney admitted to the Paris Bar since 2021.
With over ten years of experience at the intersection of human rights, criminal law, and international affairs, she has developed a practice grounded in international litigation and cross-border legal strategy.
Educated in France, Canada, and Switzerland, she holds degrees from Panthéon-Assas University, the Université de Montréal, and the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (Geneva), where she specialised in public international law, international criminal law, and human rights. She also holds a Certificate in Criminal Sciences from the Paris Institute of Criminology.
She has worked with the International Criminal Court, the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and international NGOs, and brings to each case a combination of technical expertise, strategic litigation skills, and a client-centred approach.
She advises and represents individuals, NGOs, institutions, and States in matters of international criminal law, human rights law, and transnational or universal jurisdiction proceedings, including before the European Court of Human Rights, the International Criminal Court, the International Court of Justice, and United Nations mechanisms.
In parallel, she practises criminal defence at all stages of proceedings before French courts, in both misdemeanour and felony cases, as well as in asylum matters.
Based between Paris, Geneva, The Hague, and Montreal, Julia Basile works closely with a trusted international network of experts, supporting a legal practice that is rigorous, engaged, and independent.
